We are hiring for a co-coordinator!

Job Responsibilities

Apple Corps is a grassroots community organization with 501(c)3 fiscal sponsorship. We continue to evolve as our community’s needs shift; the following list of job duties is likewise emergent. And, we know that we are stronger when we work together—all of these roles will be done in collaboration with the current Apple Corps coordinator as well as other partners!

  • Coordination of yearly activities and a regular calendar of events, including a winter pruning workshop, tree plantings, summer work days maintaining tree plantings, and fall harvest events including apple sauce making and cider pressing.
  • Sustaining and growing volunteer base.
  • Communications and outreach, including helping maintain our website, social media accounts and email lists as well as other forms of media including listserv announcements, flyers, radio and journal interviews, and tabling at community events.
  • Finances: managing UVAC’s budget, contributing to grant writing and fundraising.
  • Liaising with current partners who host Apple Corps trees at their sites as well as potential partners who may be interested in hosting plantings on their site.
  • Optional: representing Apple Corps in the Hartford Hub (quarterly gatherings).

Experience in coordinating volunteers, permaculture, fundraising, working with diverse coalitions, using social media, and managing budgets would make you an ideal candidate for this role, though is not required; this position will include some learning on the job, so above all, we are looking for a curious, flexible, and driven applicant!

This role is part-time. The coordinator will work approximately 5-10 hours/month (with some ebbs and flows in relation to seasonal cycles) at a rate of $25-30/hour based on experience and needs.

We welcome applicants of all backgrounds and, far from discriminating on the basis of race, class, gender, sex, religion, ethnicity, etc., we celebrate diversity in our Upper Valley community as we aim to forge more equitable and joyful food systems.

To apply, please share your responses to the following questions with uppervalleyapplecorpsvt@gmail.com by Wednesday, March 25.

  1. Please describe why you would be a good fit for the role of Upper Valley Apple Corps coordinator. Feel free to share what draws you to this position, how your values align with Apple Corps, and how your experience and interest connects to this position.
  2. In what ways do you envision Apple Corps evolving to better serve our community, and how would you contribute to making this vision come to life?
  3. Please provide your phone number and some times that you would be available for a 20-minute phone interview between March 30 – April 3.
